Bojanglez Nightclub

330095-414367-thumbnail.jpgThis building as you may be able to tell from the rather ornate frontage it once used to be a cinema run by Cannon. It was considered the least popular cinema in the local area as it only had one screen. In the late 1980’s it closed for the last time and reopened as a nightclub called flicks in the very early 1990’s.

The management company that ran the club obviously were just out to make money. The dance floor was just the staggered old arrangement that used to be angled so people could watch the screen; with just the chairs ripped out and330095-414353-thumbnail.jpg drops from the bar area had no railings! As you can imagine warnings were given by the local Health and Safety and it quickly changed management.

It reopened as Bojanglez and it was at least safer than before and in fact it ran 330095-414373-thumbnail.jpgsome very successful nights there including the WOK club. Although not the most popular nightclub in Guildford it was always busy and offered a half decent night out (if you didn't look at the floors to closely!!)

I believe it was closed down after several drug raids, but I cannot be sure.

Soon another re-incarnation of the club happened this time called Pulse and did not last long at all…… with the previous closure and the loss of the name 330095-414350-thumbnail.jpgBojanglez the place seemed doomed and closed part way through 2004.

Now in 2006 it stands empty surrounded by similar run down properties on the edge of the town centre waiting for a multi million pound rebuild of the existing centre that will see it flattened very soon.
