Shoreham Cement Works

A former blue circle cement works near Upper Beeding which ceased production in 1991 and finally closed the distribution arm in 1997. Having been derelict for many years it is showing severe signs of decay and vandalism, The kiln hall roof hangs perilously 100 or so feet from the floor and sheets of metal are often seen330095-839355-thumbnail.jpg sailing down.

The office side of the site has now been divided into industrial units and very heavily patrolled by security and now therefore inaccessible. The kiln side has recently been taken over by a company who over the next 7 years is looking to bring the whole site back into operation, starting with the clinker mills.

330095-839353-thumbnail.jpg There are workers continuously at the back of the site starting on the quarry and some minor renovations, it cant be too long before what was once considered one of the best derelict cement works to visit will become operational, which makes a nice change as most derelict works like Chinnor are either in line for demolition or have already gone.
